Kieron Pollard left fans and teammates speechless with a moment of pure brain fade in a jaw-dropping yet bizarre moment during the Major League Cricket 2025 clash between MI New York and Texas Super Kings at the Oakland Coliseum, California, on Friday, June 13.
The dramatic incident unfolded in the blink of an eye in the 17th over of MI New York’s chase against the Texas Super Kings. Kieron Pollard faced a full-length ball on leg stump and tried to flick it behind square. Instead, the ball deflected off his pad and rolled towards mid-wicket.
Kieron Pollard's casual jog turns costly for MI New York in Major League Cricket 2025 thriller
While Texas Super Kings all-rounder Daryl Mitchell sprinted towards the ball, Pollard was casually jogging while being midway down the pitch, shockingly unaware of the danger closing in. Kieron Pollard wasn’t even looking at the ball, as if the play had paused for him, with commentators questioning what he was thinking there during the crucial moment of the MLC 2025 clash.
The former West Indies all-rounder literally didn’t show any game awareness there. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell slid in, collected the ball cleanly, and threw for a perfect direct hit. By the time Pollard realized he had to move, it was too late in the crunch moment.
The stumps were shattered, and the big man was caught miles short of his ground. Pollard walked back to the pavilion after playing a quickfire knock of 32 off 16 balls, which included 5 fours and 1 six, but it was that moment of brain fade that stole the spotlight.

As soon as the bizarre moment went viral across social media platforms, fans erupted in disbelief, questioning how a player of Pollard’s experience and caliber could switch off so completely at such a crucial stage of the game.
Pollard's brain fade moment costs MI New York dearly, as Texas Super Kings won the Major League Cricket 2025 thriller by just three runs in California on Friday.

Cricket is very funny: Nicholas Pooran on Kieron Pollard's brain fade moment
Reacting to Kieron Pollard's run-out against TSK, MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran said that “cricket is very funny, and it’s never over till the final ball is bowled.”
Earlier, Texas Super Kings posted 185 for 6 in their 20 overs on the board, thanks to brilliant fifties from Devon Conway (65) and Calvin Savage (53*). For MI New York, Michael Bracewell was the standout bowler with 2/34 in the MLC 2025 clash on Friday.
Chasing the target, MI New York didn’t have a great start, and then wickets were falling at regular intervals, but still they managed to get close to the target, thanks to Monank Patel’s 62 and Michael Bracewell’s 38, and had Pollard not had a brain fade moment, they would have easily won the game against TSK.
Pooran further said on the crushing defeat, “I was happy with 185; it was a good partnership between Conway and Savage. They got 10-15 runs too much, but still can’t complain with the bowling. It’s a small venue; it’s a game of cat and mouse. The power play is really crucial. I got out second ball after getting a reprieve; hopefully we can move forward.”
