KL Rahul had a scratchy outing with the bat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Coming to the ongoing match, KL Rahul had a scratchy outing with the bat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The right-hander walked out to bat at number four and couldn't get his timing right at all as he was tested a lot by the opposition bowlers.
KL Rahul scored just 41 runs off 39 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 105 and managed just three boundaries in his innings. The rest of the batters also had starts but failed to carry on that as Delhi Capitals posted a low total.
Abishek Porel (28) and Faf du Plessis (22) took the team off to a decent start with the bat, and after that, the team struggled. Tristan Stubbs, in the end, played a powerful hand that powered Delhi Capitals to a fighting total on the board.
Tristan Stubbs ended up playing an innings of 34 runs off 18 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 188. He also slammed five boundaries and one six during his stay at the crease. Thanks to his heroics, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 162 for eight.
I enjoy batting at the backend, just want to enjoy myself - Tristan Stubbs
Ahead of the match, Tristan Stubbs talked about the team's campaign, saying that they need to take things game by game. He also talked about how he enjoys batting in the middle. Speaking to broadcasters, he said:
"We need to take it game by game, when we won our last game, it was important to get on a winning streak and get the momentum going. Faf is back today so that’s good. We haven’t really put that nail the coffin in the middle, so hopefully put up a complete batting performance today."
