Watch: KL Rahul prepares for red-ball challenge with intense batting session in nets

India National Cricket Team batter KL Rahul has started his preparations for the upcoming Duleep Trophy and the home Test season. The domestic tournament in India is all set to take place from 5th September and it will see a lot of big names featuring in it.

The selectors named Rahul in the India A squad for the tournament, and he will play under Shubman Gill's leadership. KL Rahul will have a point to prove as he of late has gone under the radar and would want to prove his prowess yet again for the team.

Rahul wasn't named in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 and it was a massive setback for him. The keeper-batter then made a comeback for the national team in the ODI series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and didn't have the kind of impact he would've wanted.

Rahul scored 31 runs in the first game and followed it up with a duck in the second game. To worsen the case more he was then dropped from the team for the third game. Despite being the best batter for the team in the middle, he wasn't allowed to play as Rishabh Pant got a nod ahead of him.

However, now with the Duleep Trophy ahead and the home season there too, it will be a massive opportunity for him to reclaim the faith. KL Rahul would want to make a massive impact in the domestic circuit and then be the starter in the Indian XI for the Test series against Bangladesh.

Before the Duleep Trophy, Rahul returned to the nets and put in the hard work. In the video that has gone viral on the internet, the India batter was seen hitting a gorgeous straight drive over the bowler's head as he timed the ball to perfection.

KL Rahul will be fighting for a place in the Indian Test team with Rishabh Pant. The left-hander has returned to action and will make his red-ball comeback in the Duleep Trophy 2024. He has been India's best keeper in the Test format, winning games single-handedly for the team.

In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Rahul batted in the middle order for India. He kept wickets in the South Africa tour and also slammed a magnificent ton. He also was decent with the bat in the Test series against England at home but couldn't play all the games as he was injured.

KL Rahul would want to set the stage on fire in the Duleep Trophy and prove his worth to selectors. The keeper-batter has been sensational for the India National Cricket Team in Test cricket and would want to continue his golden touch with the bat in the upcoming series.

India will be playing Bangladesh and New Zealand at home before going to Australia for the five-match Test series. He no doubt will be the key for the team in all the series.
