However, Shivam Dube managed to break that partnership with a back-of-the-length delivery outside the off-stump. Will Jacks attempted to guide the ball towards the third-man region but only managed to get a thick outside edge. The ball flew quickly to the right of the Indian wicketkeeper KL Rahul.

Rahul reacted instantly as he dived full stretch to his right and completed an incredible one-handed catch, leaving players and fans in awe of the Indian wicketkeeper. His spectacular effort ended Jack's innings for 20 runs off 19 balls, which included three boundaries.
Joe Root, Liam Dawson rescue England
After a dramatic collapse, the England national cricket team is slowly finding its way back into the match in the first ODI against India. England were in a strong position at 61/0, but the innings took a shocking turn as India picked up five wickets, reducing the hosts to 80/5 and putting them under huge pressure. Amid this, Jasprit Bumrah reaches 150 ODI wickets with Harry Brook's scalp in 1st ODI.
However, Joe Root has kept England's hopes alive by staying calm at one end. The experienced batter has started rebuilding the innings with Liam Dawson, and they have already added a 32-run partnership. Their stand is helping England recover from the tough position.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blue will be eager to break this partnership before it becomes a bigger problem. If they allow Root and Dawson to settle, they could help England post a challenging total. The pitch at Edgbaston has shown uneven bounce, making batting difficult at times.
Because of these conditions and England's strong bowling attack, any target above 250 could prove to be very challenging for India in the run chase. Their current score reads 160/6.
Head-to-Head Record in ODIs
The Men in Blue have enjoyed the better record against England in ODI cricket over the years. Out of 110 ODIs played between the two sides, India has won 61 matches, while England managed to win 44 matches in the format.
Two matches ended in a tie, and three produced no result. Apart from their dominance, India have also won each of the last three ODI series against England.
Notably, England has had one of the poorest records in ODI cricket among Full Member nations since the 2023 ODI World Cup. Only Zimbabwe has registered a lower win percentage than the Three Lions during this period.
