KL Rahul found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons on Day 3 of the ongoing second and final Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. India seems to be in a hurry to finish the game as soon as possible, and that was seen in their actions.
The Indian opener was caught red-handed messing with the stumps’ bails even before the lunch break was declared on Day 3 of the ongoing second and final Test in Delhi, where the West Indies’ tail is showing great determination and frustrating the bowlers.
KL Rahul’s pre-lunch mischief goes viral as umpire calls back Indian players for one more over in Delhi
The incident unfolded after the 70th over of the West Indies’ innings. Actually, when the Indian players were heading off for the lunch break, KL Rahul deliberately dislodged the stumps’ bails, and the umpires could not avoid the right-hander’s antics right before the lunch break.

In the viral video, the Karnataka batsman was seen passing by the stumps in a loose manner and dislodging the bails with his finger. In a surprising move, Rahul even paused to glance back at the fallen bail, but he walked straight away instead of fixing it immediately.
The umpire, Richard Illingworth, quickly noticed the act and immediately called the players back onto the field. India had to bowl one more over before being allowed to take the break. Rahul’s cheeky action has now gone viral across the social media platforms.

India dominate morning session, but West Indies tail shows fight in Delhi Test
Meanwhile, the Indian bowlers dominated the West Indies’ batting lineup in the morning session of Day 3, claiming four quick wickets in 29 overs and putting the visitors under serious pressure. Kuldeep Yadav struck early and took key wickets, while Mohammed Siraj uprooted Jomel Warrican’s stumps, as India has a real chance of a possible follow-on.
However, the ninth-wicket partnership of 42 runs between Khary Pierre and Anderson Phillip slowed India’s momentum. Pierre and Phillip showed grit and patience, defending the strike and sneaking in occasional scoring shots, taking West Indies to lunch at 217 for 8, trailing by 301 runs.

The West Indies need to cross the 319-run mark to avoid a follow-on. With just two wickets in hand, it is highly likely that India will enforce a follow-on. But the lower-order stand could influence whether the hosts enforce the follow-on or bat again to extend their lead in the ongoing second Test in Delhi.
KL Rahul misreads spin, stumped after bright start
Earlier, KL Rahul’s promising start in the second Test against the West Indies ended in disappointment as he was stumped for 38 by Jomel Warrican after misreading the spin. After a brilliant century in the first Test at Ahmedabad, Rahul looked in great touch and looked to build another big score in Delhi.
Rahul began aggressively. Just as the Indian opener seemed to be finding his rhythm, a momentary lapse in concentration cost him dearly. Stepping out of his crease and misjudging the turn, he was stumped out. His form as India’s first-choice opener has been a major boost for India this season, especially after Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket.
Alongside Jaiswal, Rahul has formed a solid opening pair, combining experience and youthful energy. His adaptability and calmness at the crease continue to be key for India in the format.
