India player KS Bharat has been nothing short of exceptional behind the wickets in the ongoing first Test against England. The first match of the five-match Test series between the teams is taking place at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.

India has been all over England in the ongoing hand. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja have spun the web around the English batters and have made sure that they keep the hosts on top of the game.

While spinners have played their part, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah oozed his class too in conditions which haven’t been seamed friendly. The pacer, however, used his variations and made sure that he added his name to the wickets column in the game.

Jasprit Bumrah sent England spinner Rehan Ahmed packing with his exceptional slower ball. But the credit to the wicket goes equally to keeper KS Bharat, who took a brilliant low catch behind the stumps to send the batter packing.

During the third ball of the 49th over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a slower off-cutter. Rehan Ahmed was drawn into the drive and the ball wafted away from his body. The ball caught the inside edge and went really low to keeper KS Bharat.

KS Bharat dived forward and completed a brilliant catch. The third umpire had a look at the catch but was convinced that the gloves were under the ball. After the Hyderabad crowd was delighted and cheered loudly in joy.

Rehan Ahmed scored 13 runs off 18 balls. He looked good but was undone by the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah. His sensational bowling even made Eoin Morgan, who was commentating, go gaga about the bowler and quip ‘High quality bowling from Bumrah’.

When KS Bharat was included in the playing 11 for the first Test against England, many eyebrows were raised. Fans didn’t like his inclusion and weren’t happy with him playing, touting him as the weak link in the team.

KS Bharat, however, has proved many wrong with his keeping skills so far in the game. The right-hander has taken some brilliant catches behind the stumps and also has been vocal, passing his inputs to the bowlers.

KS Bharat has taken two catches in the game so far and would be hoping to add more dismissals to his tally. England won the toss and batted first. They added 55 runs for the opening stand but were reduced to 60/3 in no time.

Jonny Bairstow (37) and Joe Root (29) tried to get going and bail the team out of trouble. But they couldn’t cash on the start they got. After their wickets, India’s spinners picked wickets in no time and reduced the opposition to 193/8. The onus is now on the skipper Ben Stokes to take his team to the competitive total. The Southpaw has looked good and is chipping in with runs, which is slowly putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. He would be hoping to take his team close to 250.
