Kuldeep Yadav bamboozles Shai Hope with an absolute peach of a delivery; West Indies are five down at Lunch
PC: X

Kuldeep Yadav, the master spinner, after a commanding show in the Asia Cup, marks a stellar return to Test cricket with a peach of a delivery to trick West Indies batter Shai Hope. With Hope's wicket, the Windies are left hopeless of a comeback.

India's first Test on home ground since they last hosted the New Zealand side back in September-October 2024, where India faced a humiliating 3-0 whitewash in the series. This series would mark two tests; the first one is underway at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

India skipper Shubman Gill is yet to win a toss as India's Test skipper; however, the loss went in his favour this time around as the opponents opted to bat on a green track.

Watch: Kuldeep Yadav leaves Shai Hope awestruck by a sharp spinning stock ball

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah's early carnage had already left the Windies side traumatized; however, just when the skipper, Roston Chase, was building on the partnership alongside their most inform batter across formats, Shai Hope, the returning spinner had ruined their plans.

Just in the second over of his spell, Kuldeep lured Shai Hope with a full flighted delivery outside off; Hope, too, approached the shot with a semi-horizontal bat. However, the ball spun massively and went on to hit the outer edge of the half-stump.

Kuldeep gets a huge wicket, while the West Indies are now struggling with half of the team back in the dugout just before Lunch on Day 1. Shai Hope departs after a fighting knock of 26 runs.

Mohammad Siraj gets his fourth of the inning; Skipper Chase is back in the dugout

Mohammad Siraj has already had a startling Day 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, since he has had some relative experience playing on this track for the Gujarat Titans.

Siraj picked 3 wickets in his first spell, which comprised 7 overs. He dismissed the likes of Chanderpaul, Athanaze and Brandon King alongside Jasprit Bumrah, picking the wicket of John Campbell first up.

After being back on the field in the second session of the day's play, Mohammed Siraj delivers another peach of a delivery to dismiss the Windies skipper Roston Chase for 24 runs. This marks Siraj's fourth wicket in the innings.

All eyes are on Sai Sudharsan as the batter is all set to make his Test debut on Indian soil

Sai Sudharsan made his debut for India in the England series and is yet to play in a Test match on Indian soil. The series against the West Indies will mark his first game for India on the subcontinent soil, which is also one of his well-known tracks of the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Sudharsan is contending for the third spot in the Indian test side, as ever since Virat Kohli's retirement, the skipper Shubman Gill has placed himself in the no. 4 spot, which left the first down spot vacant. Sudharsan will face opposition in the form of Devdutt Padikkal, the other left-hander also included in the Indian squad.
