Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni shared a hilarious moment after the IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The wicketkeepers discussed Dhoni’s remarkable direct-hit run-out of Abdul Samad during the 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Chennai Super Kings ended their five-match losing streak with a five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Monday, April 14. MS Dhoni silenced his critics with a match-winning knock during the match. The veteran batter scored an unbeaten 26 off 11 balls to lead CSK in chasing down the target of 167.
MS Dhoni Shines Behind the Stumps with a Stellar Performance
MS Dhoni delivered a vintage performance behind the stumps. The 43-year-old cricketer showcased sharp reflexes and pulled off three crucial dismissals. He first stumped Ayush Badoni with lightning speed and later took a high catch to dismiss Rishabh Pant, who scored 63 runs off 49 deliveries.
Dhoni executed a run-out in the 20th over. He collected a wayward delivery from Matheesha Pathirana and managed to hit the stumps at the non-striker's end with an underarm throw, catching Abdul Samad short of his crease. Dhoni also became the first player in IPL history to reach 200 dismissals.

After the match, MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant had a conversation about the runout. When Pant asked how he pulled it off, Dhoni said he simply aimed at the stumps and threw, hoping it would hit. Pant said that your throws are always hitting the stumps anyway, leaving the two in splits.
"Wicket dekha mar diya lagi toh theek hai (I saw the stumps and hit it thinking its okay if it hits or not)," Dhoni said.
To this, Pant hilariously replied, "Lage jaa rahi hai yaar (Your throws are hitting the stumps only right)," with a smile on his face.

MS Dhoni Powers Chennai Super Kings to Second Win of IPL 2025
MS Dhoni guided Chennai Super Kings to their second win of IPL 2025, ending a five-match losing streak with a crucial victory over Lucknow Super Giants. He was leading the team for only the second time this season and delivered when it mattered most.
After restricting LSG to 166/7 in their 20 overs, CSK got off to a solid start in the chase but lost momentum in the middle. Dhoni stepped up in the final overs with a match-winning cameo to seal the win with three balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
The wicketkeeper-batter won the ‘Player of the Match’ award and became the oldest player to receive the honor in IPL history. CSK will next face Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 20, hoping to continue their winning momentum after a rough start.
