Bangladesh wicketkeeper Litton Das displayed spectacular glovework during the third and final T20I match against Sri Lanka. Litton Das successfully executed an MS Dhoni-esque run out on the last delivery of Sri Lanka’s innings in Sylhet on Saturday, March 9.

Dasun Shanaka entered the crease during the 17th over of the first innings at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. In his first seven balls, the former Sri Lankan skipper struck two fours and a six. However, his cameo of 19 off nine balls was cut short by a run-out.

In the closing moments of the Sri Lankan innings, Dasun Shanaka mistimed a lofted shot off left-arm pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman. The ball landed near long-on, and the Sri Lanka batters attempted a risky double. Rishad Hossain’s throw was a poor one.

Despite an inaccurate throw from Hossain, Litton Das managed to collect the ball. The wicketkeeper flicked it without properly looking at the stumps but still managed to precisely hit the target, catching Shanaka short of the crease despite his diving effort.

The runout evoked memories of MS Dhoni’s iconic back-flip runout against New Zealand’s Ross Taylor in 2016. Dhoni collected the throw on the bounce and flicked it back onto the stumps without turning, resulting in Taylor’s dismissal. This brilliant display of skill and instinctive action left a lasting impression on cricket fans worldwide.

Litton Das showcased his batting prowess with a notable 36-run innings in the second T20I against Sri Lanka. However, in the series decider, Litton Das couldn’t maintain his form and was dismissed by Dhananjaya de Silva for a mere seven runs off 11 balls.

Bangladesh Fails To Chase 175 Runs Target In Third T20I

Sri Lanka sealed the T20I series with a commanding 28-run win over Bangladesh. Kusal Mendis led Sri Lanka’s batting charge with an impressive 86-run innings. The visiting team managed to put up a competitive total of 174 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.

Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain claimed two wickets each for Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s hopes were dashed as their batting faltered in the run chase. Rishad Hossain stood out with a resilient 53-run innings, but it wasn’t enough to steer his team to victory.

Nuwan Thushara starred for Sri Lanka with a remarkable five-wicket haul, which included a hat-trick. The upcoming three-match one-day international (ODI) series between the two series will commence in Chattogram on Wednesday, March 13.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Shanto acknowledged the team’s comeback to restrict the opponents to 174 runs. Shanto expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance in the series and conveyed optimism about the upcoming ODIs.

“The way they started, they batted brilliantly but we came back nicely to restrict them to 174. Credit goes to Nuwan, he bowled brilliantly but we have to look back on how we play the first six overs. We played some good cricket in all three matches, happy for Rishad. We can take a lot of confidence from this series but ODIs is a different format, we are looking forward to it,” Shanto said.
