Aiden Markram, on Tuesday (April 1), squandered a good start with the bat as he fell for a low score once again in the ongoing game between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The South African star began his campaign in the ongoing IPL 2025 on a poor note. In the first game against Delhi Capitals, the right-handed batsman was out for 15 runs. It was followed by yet another failure as he could score just 1 run against his former IPL side, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Markram gets off to a good start and fails again

For the first time this season, Aiden Markram finally crossed the 20-run mark as he managed to get a good start with the bat against PBKS. After PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first, LSG were off to a poor start as in-form Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for a duck by Arshdeep Singh in the very first over.

However, Aiden Markram batted positively to keep the scoreboard ticking at a good pace. In the third over of the innings, he hit Arshdeep for three fours to get going.

Ferguson took brutal revenge

He then hit Lockie Ferguson for a four and a six in the fourth over. However, the New Zealand pacer had the last laugh as he clean bowled Aiden Markram in the same over. After being hit for boundaries on successive deliveries, Ferguson sent back Markram on the fifth delivery of the over.

It was a fuller length delivery that swung in from outside off, and Markram attempted to hit the ball over mid-off. However, there was no foot movement, and he paid the price for it. In the end, the ball crashed into the stumps after taking the inside edge of the bat.

After losing the wickets of Marsh and Markram, they also lost the wicket of their captain, Rishabh Pant, inside the powerplay. At the time of writing this report, they were on 58/3 in the eighth over with Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni in the middle.
