India are playing against Sri Lanka in their last Super-4 game, though they are already through to the finals, and the Lankans have been knocked out after two early losses. India will take on Pakistan, their arch-rivals, in the Asia Cup 2025 final.

India opener Shubman Gill has returned to the Indian T20I side in this Asia Cup, after having missed the three previous series. However, his return has not marked any dominant impact, as his best score of 47 in this tournament came against Pakistan in the Super-4 fixture.
Gill was further disappointed as he continued his poor form in the Asia Cup after being sent back for just 4 runs against Sri Lanka. He hit spinner Maheesh Theekshana for a boundary but then edged a delivery back to the bowler. Theekshana dived to his left to take an absolutely stunning catch, which left the batter awestruck.
Abhishek Sharma dominates with his third consecutive half-century
The left-handed opening batter has been unstoppable for India, especially with his performance in the Super-4 stages of the Asia Cup 2025. While Shubman Gill has lacked form at the top, the Indian middle-order has also failed to be promising.
Sharma has soon gained the reputation of India's finest top-order batter and has batted stunningly for India. He is currently the highest-ranked batter by the ICC as per the ICC T20I Rankings.
Sharma is also one of the most flawless six-hitters for India, as he has also made a record rise with 50 sixes in international cricket. This half-century against Sri Lanka marks his third consecutive 50 in the Super-4 stages. Charith Asalanka handed the Lankans their biggest breakthrough in the form of Abhishek's wicket.
Sanju Samson was sent in at no. 5 after Suryakumar Yadav struggled with form
Sanju Samson, who was expected to be India's new no. 3 after losing his opening spot to Shubman Gill, has clearly not been handed the role by Gautam Gambhir and skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Even Tilak Varma, who scored multiple hundreds at no. 3 was not given the role.
However, the captain SKY has failed miserably in the top order for India, as he has failed to be promising even in this Asia Cup. He has repeatedly failed to score many runs in the Super-4 stage.
Sanju Samson, who has not had very many chances to bat in the tournament, has finally received a massive role for India against Sri Lanka. Samson is now looking forward to building on a decent partnership alongside Tilak Varma.
