South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen turned the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 into a WWE ring with the way they collided in the boundary ropes.

South Africa were in action earlier today at the Sir Viv Richards stadium in Antigua for their final Super 8 match against co-hosts West Indies. Both the teams were included in Group 2 of the last 8 stages which began a week ago after the conclusion of the first round which saw 20 teams divided into groups of 4.

Australia, India, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh were put in Group 1 whereas South Africa, the West Indies, England, and the USA were drawn into Group 2. The Super 8s are just a few matches away from getting over and the fans are now eagerly waiting for the most exciting stage of the tournament - the Semi-finals.

It has been one interesting Super 8 competition in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. South Africa which consists of players like Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markram, and Marco Jansen among others, are still in the hunt for their first-ever appearance at a T20 WC final.

Last year, they had done very well as a unit to qualify for their first ICC ODI World Cup semi-finals for the first time since the 2015 edition in Australia. In the 2024 T20 WC, South Africa qualified for the semis after exiting the competition from the group stages itself last time around in 2022.

The Proteas registered a very close victory against West Indies, in the last over, to seal their spot for the last 4. Marco Jansen, who was given medical attention in the 1st innings of the match, was the one who scored the winning 6 and sealed his side's berth in back-to-back ICC semi-finals.

What happened between Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada?

During the 8th over of the 1st innings after Aiden Markram asked Windies to bat first, Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada had a brutal collision near the boundary ropes. It was almost as if the two were executing a WWE move while trying to prevent a sixer from being scored. West Indies batter Kyle Mayers had lofted one ball up with a straight drive off Keshav Maharaj.

The ball was travelling quickly towards the side screen with Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada both approaching to stop the ball. Jansen made good contact with the ball, using his bowling arm to catch and throw the ball inside the ropes. However, he didn't see that Rabada was also charging in towards him to try and stop the ball.

But what happened afterward was an ugly sight. Kagiso Rabada, in all his momentum, slammed his knees on Marco Jansen's abdomen. Jansen was seething in pain and was also seen punching the ground as the South African medical team assisted him to get going in the match.

While Marco Jansen was feeling the pain, Kagiso Rabada looked fine after the collision as he wasn't hit that badly. Luckily for the Proteas camp, both of the players came out safe and there wasn't any injury concern.
