The tall Punjab Kings (PBKS) left-arm pacer Marco Jansen destroyed the stumps of the Gujarat Titans (GT) explosive batsman Jos Buttler on Tuesday, March 25.
Gujarat Titans (GT) took on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 5th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Jos Buttler hits a great fifty for Gujarat Titans
Buttler didn't open the innings for Gujarat Titans in the chase of 244 runs and came to bat at the No.3 spot after the dismissal of skipper Shubman Gill in the 6th over of the innings.
Jos Buttler batted quite well in the match and slammed a terrific fifty. He played an attacking brand of cricket and scored 54 runs, with 4 fours and 2 sixes, before being dismissed by Marco Jansen in the 18th over.
On the last ball of the over, Marco Jansen bowled a full and wide ball to Buttler, who dragged it back into the stumps to gift his wicket to the Kings.

Speaking ahead of the match, Jos Buttler said that he always tries to focus on positive stuff and avoids negativity. He stated:
"Yeah looking forward to it. Obviously, it's a new franchise and it has been a great first week with the guys. Really excited to get out there and play tonight.
"Well, preparation is key to every single game. I try to be in a good frame of mind to get out there and play. It's a special place to play and the crowd is building up nicely. Instead of focusing on the pressure, I try to focus on the positive stuff and it's a great privilege and I want to enjoy the challenge."
While talking about Gujarat Titans' home venue, Jos Buttler said that it is a huge ground and lauded its atmosphere. He said:
"(On the Venue) It's good. Obviously, it's a big ground but we want to put up a good show tonight. Yeah absolutely. The atmosphere is building here and you can sense the buzz going around. That's why we play the game and I am looking forward to this game."
What happened in the previous IPL match between GT and PBKS?
The last time Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings locked horns with each other was in the 37th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 on April 21. In that match, the Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a hard-fought three-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur.
Batting first, PBKS managed to score just 142 runs in their 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh provided an aggressive start with a 21-ball 35, but the middle order collapsed under GT’s spin assault.
Sai Kishore (4/33), Rashid Khan (1/15), and Noor Ahmad (2/20) ensured PBKS couldn’t build partnerships. And it was PBKS all-rounder Harpreet Brar’s 12-ball 29 in the death overs that gave PBKS a respectable total.
Chasing the target, Gujarat Titans didn't have a smooth ride as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Shubman Gill (35) and Sai Sudharsan (31) provided stability, but PBKS bowlers, led by Harshal Patel (3/15) and Liam Livingstone (2/19), kept the pressure on. The game was in the balance until Rahul Tewatia’s 18-ball 36 took GT over the line with five balls to spare.
