Delhi Capitals’ ploy of bowling Marcus Stoinis in the powerplay has proved to be a masterstroke with the Australian all-rounder getting rid of the dangerous Quinton de Kock in just his second over.
It all happened on the first ball of the third over of Mumbai Indians innings. Stoinis bowled another 129.7 kph cutter which went across the left-hander.
De Kock threw his hands at the ball without moving his feet and ended up getting a thick outside edge, which DC wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant gobbled easily.
Earlier Delhi Capitals made a couple of changes to their playing 11 against the Mumbai Indians as they benched Lukman Meriwala for the leg-spin of Amit Mishra and Chris Woakes, who was brilliant in the first couple of games, in order to beef up their batting unit by including Shimron Hetmyer.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have made one tactical change to their playing 11. They have included Jayant Yadav to counter Delhi Capitals’ left-handers and have benched tearaway pacer, Adam Milne.
At the time of writing, Mumbai Indians were 1/45 after 5 overs with skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease.
