Australian Test No.3 Marnus Labuschagne pulled off an absolute screamer to dismiss New South Wales pacer Josh Hazlewood in the ongoing Sheffield Shield final at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Thursday.

The moment arrived during the second ball of the 61st over bowled by Micheal Nesser when Josh Hazlewood creamed a cover-drive, only to see Marnus Labuschagne dive to his right and pluck a one-handed screamer in thin air.

The stunning catch by Labuschagne gave Michael Nesser his 5th wicket and brought an end to New South Wales innings for a mere 143.

Having chosen to bat first, New South Wales lost wickets at regular intervals. Jack Wildermuth (4/21 in 16 overs) and Michael Nesser (5/27 in 13.2 overs) were wrecker-in-chief as they shared nine wickets between them to break the back of New South Wales’ batting unit.

Michael Nesser knocked over Matthew Gilkes for a 10-ball 6 before Widermuth joined the party to send Daniel Hughes for a 66-ball 19.

Skipper Kurtis Patterson top-scored with a patient 128-ball 43 but once he was dismissed by Brendon Doggett, the duo of Wildermuth and Nesser walked past the middle and lower order to knock over New South Wales for 143.

In reply, Queensland lost one of their openers Joe Burns for a 33-ball 22 but Marnus Labuschagne [23*] and Bryce Street [14*] ensured that there were no further hiccups as they ended the day at 1/58 after 25 overs.
