Sri Lanka National Cricket Team batter Janith Liyanage made a massive blunder in the ongoing first ODI against the India National Cricket Team. The game between the two teams is underway at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team batters aren’t having a great time with the bat in the ongoing game against India. The Rohit Sharma's side has bowled magnificently well and has picked wickets at regular intervals to put the opponents under pressure and restrict the run flow.

After Sri Lanka lost 5 wickets for just 101 runs, Janith Liyanage tried to counterattack and made sure he got some quick runs for his team. The batter played some great shots and ensured that he kept his team in the hunt despite losing early wickets.

Janith Liyanage was going great guns until he made a big blunder and walked off the field despite being not out. During the second ball of the 33rd over, Axar Patel bowled a tossed-up delivery that to which the batter’s eyes lit up.

Janith Liyanage shimmed down the track and he tried to go big. The ball spun away and it seemed that the ball took the outside edge as the ball hit KL Rahul’s thigh on the way and deflected to Rohit Sharma, who took a catch at slips to remove the batter.

The umpire didn’t give it out but Janith Liyanage walked off himself as he was convinced that he nicked the ball. Looking at the batter walking back, the umpire also raised his finger. It seemed all confusing as the batter went back to the pavilion as the India National Cricket Team got rewarded with the wicket of the player, who looked in great touch.

Later the UltraEdge showed a spike when the bat hit the ground but there wasn’t a spike when the ball was next to the bat which meant there was no outside edge. As the batter walked back to the hut entire Sri Lanka team looked shocked.

Here’s the video:

Janith Liyanage looked in great but thanks to his blunder he scored just 20 runs off 26 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 77 and also slammed 1 four and 1 six in his innings. With his wicket, Sri Lanka lost their 6th wicket for 142 runs.

Axar Patel picks two wickets in 10 overs

Axar Patel so far has been the pick of the bowlers for India in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka. The all-rounder picked two wickets in his spell and was economical as well as he helped his team get at the top in the match.

Axar Patel picked wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Janith Liyanage to finish with the figures of 2/33 in the 10 overs that he bowled. Apart from him, every other bowler has chipped in and has picked one wicket each as they are all over the Sri Lanka batters. They would be hoping to wrap up the innings quickly and then win the game.
