Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana were involved in a nasty collision on the field during the ongoing match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The incident took place in the 4th over of the RCB innings when Anshul Kamboj was bowling to Jacob Bethell. On the penultimate delivery of the over, the right-arm pacer bowled a back-of-a-length delivery outside the off stump, and Bethell wanted to hit the ball towards the leg side.

However, the England star failed to make a good connection with the delivery and ended up top-edging the ball towards the short third man region. As the ball was falling, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana both went for it.

There was clearly a lack of communication between the two, as both of them had their eyes set on the ball and were not aware of the other's movement. In the end, it led to a nasty collision and a dropped catch. Ravindra Jadeja had caught the ball but lost it after Matheesha Pathirana's face crashed into his arms.

The Sri Lanka star fell down immediately, while Jadeja was seen venting his frustration .However, the veteran allrounder soon realised that his younger teammate was hurt and quickly checked him before the physio came running. Jadeja was also seen telling the physio 'a small cut', suggesting that the injury was not serious.

Pathirana, however, looked dazed after the incident and eventually decided to leave the field. He was replaced by Kamlesh Nagarkoti on the field.

Talking about the game, RCB are off to a strong start after CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first. Bethell set the tone for the innings by hitting Khaleel Ahmed for three consecutive fours in the very first over. In the third over, he and Kohli hit Khaleel for three sixes. At the end of the powerplay, RCB had raced away to 71 for no loss.
