The incident occurred in the 17th over of MI New York’s innings. After Quinton de Kock was dismissed for 70 off 46 balls, Michael Bracewell arrived at the crease. The New Zealand all-rounder attempted a pull shot on a delivery that wasn’t short enough and was bowled as the ball crashed into his off stump.

Bracewell instinctively signaled for a DRS review, thinking he had been given out lbw. He quickly realized his mistake when he turned to see the shattered stumps behind him. Bracewell pointed at his pads to Unicorns skipper Matt Short, seemingly trying to explain his confusion, before walking off the field.

San Francisco Unicorns Shine with All-Round Show

San Francisco Unicorns delivered an all-round performance to secure a comfortable win over MI New York. The Unicorns posted a massive 246/4, with Matthew Short scoring 91 off 43 balls. Jake Fraser-McGurk added 64 off just 26 balls, while Hassan Khan finished with an unbeaten 31 from nine balls.

Kieron Pollard was the pick of the bowlers for MI, finishing with 2/31, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain the onslaught.

In response, MI New York got off to a strong start with Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel putting on a 119-run partnership. Monank scored 60 off 33 balls, but his dismissal to Liam Plunkett initiated a collapse.

Nicholas Pooran (15) and Michael Bracewell were dismissed by Romario Shepherd. Pollard scored an unbeaten 34 off 16 balls, but MI New York could only manage 199/6. Shepherd and Xavier Bartlett claimed two wickets apiece, helping the Unicorns seal a convincing 47-run victory.

Tough Day for Us, Credit to Them - Nicholas Pooran

After the defeat, MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran admitted that it was a difficult day for his side. He acknowledged that MI’s bowling unit failed to execute their plans effectively.

"Tough day for us, credit to them. We didn’t execute our plans as a bowling group. (On if the target was too high) If we chased that down, it would be a great chase. The opening partnership gave us a chance but credit to them, they bowled well in the middle phase," Pooran said.

"(On their poor form) We’ve had some tough games, it is challenging when the other teams are also playing nicely. We need to go over our plans again and come out with better execution of those plans."
