Former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has stunned the cricketing world by making accurate predictions for the World Cup semifinal between India and New Zealand. The first semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2023 took place earlier this week between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium.

The Men in Blue thrashed the Black Caps by 70 runs to storm into the final. Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led piled up a mammoth total of 397 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs. After Rohit and Shubman Gill gave the team a flying start, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored centuries to help India post a 390-plus total. Kohli scored 117 runs while Iyer scored 105.

In reply, New Zealand showed a good fight with the bat but the total was just too big to chase down in a game like the World Cup semifinal. The Black Caps were eventually all out for 327 runs. Daryl Mitchell scored 134 runs while Kane Williamson scored 69. For India, Mohammed Shami starred with the ball once again, taking 7 for 57 off his 10 overs.

Mike Hesson’s accurate predictions:

Just before the game, Mike Hesson made a number of correct predictions for the semifinal. He began by saying that India would win the game by about 70 runs. He also correctly predicted that Virat Kohli could come up with something special and complete his 50th ODI ton. Speaking further, Mike Hesson also said that Mohammed Shami could take 6 or 7 wickets.

“India are pretty strong. I reckon they will win by about 70 runs. We could see something special from someone like Virat Kohli. He’s obviously gonna try and get his 50th hundred, tonight could be the night,” said Mike Hesson.

“New Zealand chasing a big score and when they do that, Mohammed Shami might get six or seven wickets tonight,” he added while also correctly predicting a big score for Daryl Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Team India will lock horns against Australia in the final. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
