India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami coped with a massive blow during the game against the New Zealand National Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The 12th match of the tournament is taking place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Mohammed Shami got an opportunity to bat in the ongoing game after the India National Cricket Team batters went on to lose wickets at regular intervals. The fast bowler walked out to bat in the 46th over after Ravindra Jadeja was back in the hut, thanks to a brilliant catch by Kane Williamson.
Mohammed Shami didn't get much strike, as Hardik Pandya denied giving the strike to him. However, in whatever few balls he got an opportunity to bat, the pacer enjoyed his time as he tried to play some big shots in his innings to get some quick runs for his team.
Not only this, Mohammed Shami was also at the receiving end of a nasty blow as well. During the last over, the fast bowler was hit on the bowling arm as the throw from the deep came straight to him and made him wince in pain as play got halted, too.
This came after Mohammed hit Matt Henry and came back to double down the ground. The throw from Mitchell Santner came in from the deep and hit him on the back. He completed the run but was holding the right side of his back - that is, his bowling arm as physios also came out to attend him.

Mohammed Shami looks in discomfort after bowling first over
Mohammed Shami, thankfully, looked fine as he continued batting after that. The India National Cricket Team pacer ended with an innings of 5 runs off 8 balls before he was removed by Matt Henry on the last ball of the first innings.
However, the struggles were visible from him as he came to bowl in the second innings. The pacer didn't look in good shape, and after completing his over, he was seen pressing the area he got hit at as physios also turned their attention to him near the boundary ropes.
India ends with score of 249 runs, Shreyas Iyer shines with the bat
Coming to the Indian innings with the bat, the Rohit Sharma-led side didn't have a great outing with the bat as they managed just 249 runs on the board. They had a poor start as they were left reeling at 30/3 with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli back in the hut.
Shreyas Iyer (79), then along with Axar Patel (42), led the rescue charge with their 98-run partnership. But, the New Zealand National Cricket Team kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals and didn't let India batters settle at all, with Matt Henry picking 5 wickets.
Hardik Pandya, in the end, played a vital hand as he played an innings of 45 runs. Thanks to their knock, India National Cricket Team posted a total of 249 runs.
