Chittagong Kings wicketkeeper Mohammad Mithun emulated the legendary former Indian captain MS Dhoni against Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25. Mohammad Mithun stunned everyone as he showed great awareness to collect the ball before inflicting a no-look run-out.
Chittagong Kings secured a crucial victory over Rangpur Riders by five wickets with 14 balls to spare at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on January 29. This win significantly boosted their chances of qualifying for the four-team playoff in the seven-team Bangladesh Premier League.

The incident happened on the fifth ball of the sixth over in the Rangpur Riders' innings. Soumya Sarkar mistimed a pull shot to deep backward square leg. The fielder quickly threw the ball to the keeper’s end, where Mohammad Mithun collected it neatly and flicked it onto the stumps, reminding fans of MS Dhoni.
After reviewing the replays, the TV umpire confirmed Sarkar was well short of the crease. Mithun’s swift response earned praise for his smart work behind the stumps.

The runout by Mithun drew comparisons to MS Dhoni's iconic back-flip runout against Ross Taylor in 2016. Dhoni collected a throw on the bounce and flicked it back onto the stumps without looking at the stumps.
This Was a Very Important Game for Us - Mohammad Mithun
Speaking after the match, Mithun, the captain of Chittagong Kings, admitted that they had struggled in recent matches, but they executed well in this game with both the bat and ball. Mithun noted that the wicket was tricky due to some moisture, but the bowlers used the conditions effectively.
"Yes, this was a very important game for us. We didn't execute well in the last few games but we did well in this game with both bat and ball. The wicket was a bit tricky today, with some moisture in it, and the bowlers used the conditions effectively. Emon's strike rate was not good, but still, he hung around and made it easy for us," Mithun said.
The Kings restricted the Riders to 143/5 in their 20 overs. Khaled Ahmed took two wickets, while Shoriful Islam and Shamim Hossain picked up one wicket each. In reply, the Chittagong Kings struggled early; however, Haider (48* off 18 balls) turned the game around with a brilliant display of hitting.
