Mohammad Rizwan might have been sidelined from the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, yet he found a remarkable way to grab the attention. Presently, the Pakistan National Cricket Team is on the tour of New Zealand for the white-ball series.
On Friday, March 21, the Men in Green scripted history with a successful record chase of 205 runs in the third T20I match against the Black Caps in Auckland. They made a remarkable comeback in the third T20I after the first two setbacks, winning the game by nine wickets to keep their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series at Eden Park.
Pakistan wins 3rd T20I, but Mohammad Rizwan grabs headlines
However, Mohammad Rizwan, alongside Babar Azam, has been ignored for the first three T20Is as the Pakistan National Cricket Team decided to continue with the new opening pair, Mohammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz, in the ongoing T20I series against the Black Caps.
After Pakistan’s thrilling win over the Black Caps in the third T20I match, a video is going viral on social media, where Rizwan can be seen sharpening his batting skills during the practice session. However, Naseem Shah paid the price for being just a spectator during the team’s practice.
Mohammad Rizwan’s shot smashes Naseem Shah’s phone
Actually, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter played a lofted shot off a fast bowler, and it went straight to the area where the players and supporters were sitting along with their kits. Unfortunately, Naseem Shah had kept his mobile phone in his bag, and the shot ended up shattering his gadget.
However, the Pakistani fast bowler was not really happy with whatever happened after finding the ball in his bag, and even Naseem signaled to Rizwan that he broke his mobile phone with a dejected face. Now, the clip of the moment is going viral on social media.

Sikander Bakht demands PCB to cancel Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s central contracts
Meanwhile, former Pakistan fast bowler Sikander Bakht strongly criticized Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for skipping the National T20 Cup. Despite being left out of Pakistan’s T20I squad for the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand after the team's poor performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy, they opted against participating in the domestic competition.
Their decision drew heavy backlash, with Bakht urging PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to take strong action against the senior players. He even suggested that their central contracts should be cancelled due to their decision not to play in the PCB’s premier tournament.
'The buck stops with PCB'
Sikander Bakht was quoted as saying by Geo Super, “They are employees of the Pakistan Cricket Board. They get 60 lakh per month, so they must play in the tournaments the PCB is organizing. The buck stops with PCB. They have to make sure that players are available.
If you are playing club cricket and not playing in the tournament the board has organized, it means you are insulting the PCB. This shouldn't happen. Mohsin Naqvi needs to be strict. He comes off as a polite person, but he needs to change his ways. You have to ask what is happening. Be strict. Stop their central contracts.”
