Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan showcased his innovative shot-making during the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. On Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh, Rizwan’s creativity hogged all the spotlight in Rawalpindi on Thursday, August 22.

Nahid Rana delivered a sharp 140.3 km/h short ball to Rizwan in the 53rd over, and the Pakistan keeper appeared to be trying to duck out of its path, but it surprisingly ended up for an audacious shot to guide the ball towards the third-man area at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Despite moving away from the line of the ball, Rizwan's bat remained in position, and the ball unexpectedly managed to make contact with his bat, sailing over the slip cordon for a boundary against Bangladesh. This innovative stroke saw Rizwan lose his balance and fall on the crease, but he still managed to direct the ball effectively.

His efforts were rewarded with this mind-blowing shot, bringing up fifty for Rizwan. Rizwan's adventurous approach continued on the very next delivery, where he played a similar shot. Once again, he ended up on the crease, but his innovative technique was on the spot. Rana bowled another short delivery close to Rizwan's body.

Despite Rizwan leaning away from the ball and losing his balance, he skillfully ramped it over the slip fielders. The ball bounced once before crossing the boundary. Although Rizwan fell onto his back, he successfully made the crucial connection for a boundary. These shots highlighted Rizwan’s flair, innovation, and adaptability.

Watch here how Mohammad Rizwan stunned fans with his wonderful stroke:

He already smashed a century in the ongoing first Test against the Tigers. Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel (141) also hammered a century in the ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. Saim Ayub also smashed fifty, with Pakistan’s score currently being read 376/5 on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah shine in the updated ICC Test Rankings

Meanwhile, in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Rankings, Mohammad Rizwan and right-arm pacer Naseem Shah have made significant progress. South Africa’s Test captain, Temba Bavuma, experienced a drop in the rankings after a lackluster performance in the second Test against the West Indies.

Despite scoring 85 and 16 in the first Test, Bavuma’s subsequent duck and a mere four runs in the Providence Test led to him falling four places to 20th in the Test Batting Rankings. This shake-up in the rankings allowed England’s Ben Duckett, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, India’s Shubman Gill, and England’s Zak Crawley to move up a spot each.

Now, Duckett, Rizwan, Gill, and Crawley are holding the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th positions, respectively, in the updated ICC Test Rankings for batters. In the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales has surged 13 positions to secure a career-high 13th place.

However, West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers dropped one spot, allowing Naseem Shah to move into the 37th position.
