Shami reportedly was all set to make a comeback in the New Zealand Tests, but he experienced swelling in his left knee, which put his recovery on the back again. But he has been putting in the hard yards and is giving his best to be fit in time.
The recent reports suggested that Mohammed Shami will need approximately six weeks to fully recover from his knee injury. The sources at NCA confirmed that and also it was revealed that the fast bowler has not yet completely been ruled out for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Shami was last seen in action in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. During the tournament, he faced an injury in the ankle but took injections to be available for the team. After that, he underwent surgery for the same and missed a lot of crucial games for the team, including the T20 World Cup 2024.
Rohit Sharma also recently provided an update about Mohammed Shami. He said that the fast bowler was about to attain full fitness but faced a setback. He also mentioned that there is no clarity if he will be fit for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The team management would be hoping that he attains full fitness ahead of the important series. He will be crucial for his team alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
