Mohammed Shami made an eventful start with the ball in the ongoing match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammed Shami opened the bowling for the Hyderabad-based outfit and made an instant impact.

Shami took a first-ball wicket vs CSK

He gave SRH a flying start with the ball by dismissing CSK opener Shaik Rasheed on the very first delivery of the match.

It was a trademark seam-up delivery from Mohammed Shami. The ball swung away after landing, and the young batsman ended up edging the ball to Abhishek Sharma in the slip cordon.

After taking a wicket on the first ball, the India star bowled a rare no-ball on the very following delivery. Even before he could finish his run-up and deliver the ball, he ended up hitting the stumps at the non-striker's end.

What does the rule state?

As per the rules, it was a no-ball, and the umpires were quick to call it one. The existing rule states that: "If the ball is delivered and if the non-striker is not dismissed under Law 41.16 (Non-striker leaving his/her ground early), either umpire shall call and signal No ball if the bowler breaks the wicket at any time after the ball comes into play and before completion of the stride after the delivery stride.

"This shall include any clothing or other object that falls from his/her person and breaks the wicket."

Fortunately for SRH and Mohammed Shami, the resulting free hit did not cost them much as the pacer conceded just one. He finished the first over by conceding seven runs.

Talking about the game, CSK were on 37/1 in the 4th over at the time of writing this report. Sam Curran and Ayush Mhatre were batting in the middle for the five-time champions. Mhatre was batting on 28 off just 14 balls while Curran was unbeaten on 8.

The match is a crucial one for both teams. Both teams are currently languishing at the last two spots in the points table and will be desperate to win the ongoing match.
