Indian ace fast bowler Mohammed Shami has resumed training in preparation for the upcoming two-match Test series in South Africa. Mohammed Shami has been included in India’s squad for the red-ball series, but the pacer’s availability in Tests is subject to fitness.
Mohammed Shami has been sidelined from the white-ball matches in South Africa due to an ankle injury. The right-arm pacer was last in action during the 2023 World Cup final clash against Australia. Following the loss, he underwent medical treatment for the injury.

On Saturday, Mohammed Shami showcased a positive development after being ruled out of the white-ball series. He shared a video on Instagram where he was seen batting, signaling a positive sign as the team strives for their first Test series win in South Africa.

Mohammed Shami Came To Mumbai To Consult The Doctors – Report
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently provided an update on Shami’s fitness. According to a BCCI source, national selectors wouldn’t have chosen him if there wasn’t a possibility of him recovering in time for the Boxing Day Test.
“It is not exactly an on-field injury. It is an ankle condition that has developed. Shami came to Mumbai to consult the doctors. He will also go to NCA for rehab and recuperation work. The national selectors wouldn’t have selected him had there not been a chance of him getting fit in time for the Boxing Day Test,” a BCCI source said, As per PTI.
India previously won the opening game but faced two defeats in their previous tour. Shami has a good record in South Africa, picking up 35 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 23.23. The first Test match will be played in Centurion, starting on December 26.
