Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj couldn’t hide his frustration as a routine single turned into an embarrassing three-run giveaway, and all because of reckless fielding errors made by his captain, Shubman Gill, and Sai Kishore in the ongoing IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
On the fifth ball of the fifth over, Urvil Patel tapped a simple length delivery to mid-off. It should've been a calm, easy single. But then, out of nowhere, Shubman Gill decided to unleash a wild direct hit attempt with no real chance of a run-out. The ball ricocheted off and gifted an extra run off Mohammed Siraj's bowling.

To make things worse, Sai Kishore made another blunder for Mohammed Siraj’s fury. In a desperate attempt to collect the throw from Shubman Gill, Kishore fumbled and completely lost control of the ball, letting the CSK batters steal a third run and leaving Mohammed Siraj furious.

Sai Kishore and Shubman Gill make amends with the game-changing moment
However, Shubman Gill and Sai Kishore made up brilliantly for their mistakes in the 10th over. Kishore got the breakthrough just when it was needed with a clever change in angle, and it paid off in style. He tossed one up a little closer to the right-handed batter and made it spin away. Urvil took the bait, stepped out looking to go big, but ended up slicing it high into the night sky.
Gill, who was positioned at extra cover, turned and ran back while tracking the ball beautifully as it dipped behind him. He held his nerve and completed a superb catch while running back, as Urvil walked back after a quickfire 37 off just 19 balls, including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.

GT coach sees shades of MS Dhoni in Shubman Gill’s leadership start
Before the start of the match, Gujarat Titans assistant coach Aashish Kapoor compared Shubman Gill’s early Test captaincy journey to that of MS Dhoni. He reminded everyone that when Dhoni first became India’s captain, even he had no leadership experience, yet he went on to become one of the best ever. Kapoor said that time will reveal how good a leader he can become.
Aashish Kapoor stated, “When MS Dhoni was made captain for the World Cup for the first time, he was not captain anywhere. So, nobody knew, 10 years, 12 years down the line, he is going to be one of the world's best captains. If you had asked somebody at that point in time, including Dhoni, what do you think of your captaincy? There would be no answer. So, you have to see a person over a period of time before you can make any judgment on him.”
