Rohit Sharma is known to have a good record while taking the Decision Review System (DRS). However, he got one wrong during the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur.
During the 14th over of the match, Mohammed Siraj bowled a length ball from over the wicket to the left-hander Najmul Hossain Shanto. The ball just nipped back to hit the top of his pads as the batter tried to play it through the leg side.
Siraj let out a huge appeal but the on-field umpire was convinced that it was not out. After a long consultation with the bowler and the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma decided to review the on-field call.
However, it was found that the ball had pitched just outside leg stump and the on-field decision stayed not out. The players were visibly disappointed as India lost its first review of the match.

Not only the ball pitched outside leg stump, it would have gone over the stumps as well. It summed up a poor review call from the Indian captain.
Rohit Sharma's successful review
Before this unsuccessful review, Rohit Sharma had also taken a successful review as India picked up the first wicket of the match in the form of Shadman Islam.
Shadman was trapped in front by a length ball from Akash Deep that came in from around the wicket. The opener was beaten as he looked to flick it off his toes.
The ball had him hitting in front of middle stump and the ball was shown to be hitting leg stump. As a result, the decision was reversed and Shadman was dismissed.
In the last match at Chennai, Mohammed Siraj had dismissed a Bangladesh batter with the new ball but unfortunately, could not convince Rohit Sharma to take the DRS. Later, it was found that it would have been out had Rohit taken a review.
As a result, Siraj was clearly excited for this dismissal. However, it turned out to be a disappointing one this time and India lost a review.
Mohammed Siraj has bowled well in this series without much results going his way. He picked up two wickets in the first Test but went past the bat several times. The 30-year-old quick will be key for India in the upcoming Test season.
Akash Deep removes Bangladesh openers
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field first on an overcast day at Kanpur. The Men in Blue remain unchanged and continued to play with three seamers and two spinners.
Bangladesh started well but Akash Deep rocked Bangladesh with two quick wickets. At lunch, the visitors were 74-2 with the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque fighting hard. Bangladesh did well to deny Jasprit Bumrah any wickets as the India spearhead bowled his heart out alongwith Mohammed Siraj.
