‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni was no cooler when Royal Challengers Bengaluru batters were hitting the Chennai Super Kings bowlers all over the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during their IPL 2025 clash on Saturday (May 3). MS Dhoni could not keep himself calm when Khaleel Ahmed was seen making a silly mistake during the match against the RCB.

Chennai Super Kings' pacer Khaleel Ahmed had a night to forget in the IPL 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Khaleel conceded a whopping 33 runs in the 19th over of the innings, making it the most expensive over of this season.

It was the RCB hard-hitter Romario Shepherd, who smashed Khaleel for four massive sixes and two boundaries in the 19th over of the first innings. To make things worse, the CSK pacer also bowled a no-ball in the same over, helping Khaleel to steal 33 runs in that over.

With this horrific show, Khaleel joined Parwinder Awana in the unwanted record books. Awana had also conceded 33 runs in a single over while playing for Kings XI Punjab against CSK in the past.

However, the record for the most expensive over in IPL history still belongs to P. Parameswaran, who gave away 37 runs in one over for Kochi Tuskers Kerala against RCB.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was seen venting out his frustration at Khaleel Ahmed during RCB’s innings in the viral video, and it was quite surprising for many, as he is known for his cool and composed demeanor on the field.

Khaleel was the most expensive bowler for CSK during their heart-wrenching two-run loss to RCB in Bengaluru, where he finished with the unforgettable figures of 65/0 in his three overs.

Dhoni was visibly frustrated with bowler Khaleel Ahmed's field placement during RCB's innings. A viral video captured Dhoni questioning Khaleel's decision-making on the field, highlighting the pressure within the team.

Stephen Fleming backs Khaleel Ahmed after costly over, but hints at new options

Meanwhile, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming backed Khaleel Ahmed despite his costly 33-run over against RCB but hinted at trying new options in the upcoming matches this season.

He explained that MS Dhoni stuck with Khaleel because of his strong performances this season, even though Anshul Kamboj had one over left. Fleming added that Kamboj is improving and could be considered for death overs in upcoming matches in the tournament.

Stephen Fleming said at the post-match press conference, “Khaleel has done really well for us this season, so there's no reason for MS to have changed that. Kamboj is growing into his role nicely. He has the ability to do death (over bowling). He will be an option going forward, but there was no reason why Khaleel would be replaced to do that.”
