As the Chennai Super Kings were defending a modest 154-run target against Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 43 of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 25, Rasheed found himself on the receiving end of Dhoni's frustration.

In the final ball of the 8th over during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase, Rasheed’s unnecessary throw cost his team an extra run and drew sharp attention from the CSK skipper. Sam Curran had bowled a full delivery outside off stump, and Ishan Kishan played a simple drive for a straightforward single.

Rasheed, who was stationed at extra cover, sprinted in quickly and threw the ball at the non-striker’s end despite there being no one backing up the stumps.

The throw missed, and without anyone backing up the stumps, Kishan easily took an extra run. This reckless move irked MS Dhoni.

In the heat of the moment, MS Dhoni looked visibly annoyed. As the players switched ends, Dhoni signaled towards his head while glancing at Rasheed. It was a clear message from MS Dhoni to the youngster to use his brain before making such calls.

Now, the clip of the moment is going viral on social media. Earlier in the IPL 2025 clash, Rasheed was dismissed for a golden duck, falling to a sharp delivery from Mohammed Shami. In his four matches so far, Rasheed has managed just 46 runs.

SRH breaks Chepauk curse as Harshal Patel dismantles CSK’s hopes

Harshal Patel, known for his clever variations like the slower ball and knuckleball, tore through the CSK lineup with figures of 4 for 28 as the five-time IPL champions were bowled out for a modest 154 in 19.5 overs against the SRH in the crucial game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

However, the Chepauk pitch had some dew to assist batters later in the evening, but Sunrisers Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals and made things tougher for themselves.

Fortunately, Ishan Kishan stepped up with a steady 44 off 34 balls and set up the tone before Kamindu Mendis (32* off 22) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19* off 13) stitched together a crucial 49-run partnership to get SRH across the line in 18.4 overs.

This marked SRH’s first victory at the Chepauk Stadium. With the five-wicket win over CSK, SRH moved up to the eighth spot in the IPL 2025 points table, pushing Rajasthan Royals to the ninth spot.

They now have six points from nine games but need to win all their remaining five matches and by decent margins to reach 16 points to make it to the playoffs.

For CSK, it was their seventh loss in nine matches so far in the tournament. Their playoff qualification is still mathematically possible, but they not only need to win all their next five games but also pray that other results go their way.
