Mumbai Indians (MI) bought Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara in the IPL auctions for 4.80 crores and the pacer has shown his caliber in the ongoing SA20 league where he is representing MI Cape Town. During the SA20 match between Pretoria Capitals and MI Cape Town, MI Cape Town put up a mammoth total of 248/4. Ryan Rickelton scored 90 off 45 deliveries smashing 10 fours and five sixes in his innings whereas youngster Dewald Brevis scored 66 off just 32 deliveries smashing six sixes and three fours in his innings.
The MICT innings also saw some cameos by Rassie van der Dussen who scored 21 off 9 while opening the batting by hitting three sixes and skipper Kieron Pollard smashed 27 off just 7 deliveries hitting three sixes and two fours in his innings to power MI Cape Town to 248. In response Pretoria, Capitals lost six wickets for just 42 and the man to shatter their middle order was Nuwan Thushara who clean-bowled Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ackerman, and Shane Dadswell.
The wicket of Shane Dadswell was a perfect yorker reminding the fans of Lasith Malinga who used to bowl with a similar sling-arm action. Nuwan Thushara also has a side-arm bowling action which allows him to generate extra pace and helps in swinging the ball both ways. The video of his yorker to Shane Dadswell is surfacing on social media and MI fans are loving it as they have found another yorker specialist alongside Jasprit Bumrah who will be back in the IPL this year after missing the last season due to an injury.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have some depth in their squad in terms of bowling and batting. Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara both can bowl toe-crushing yorkers on demand and are going to lead the Mumbai Indians’ pace attack in the upcoming IPL season.
Nuwan Thushara has taken seven wickets in just four games for MI Cape Town and has an average of 16.29. The MICT is currently fourth on the points table and is looking to qualify for the semi-finals of the SA20 league. They finished last on the points table in 2023 and now are one step away from qualifying for the semi-finals which shows the improvement they have had since the last year. Meanwhile, the Durban Super Giants, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and Paarl Royals have already qualified for the semi-finals.
