Rohit Sharma, on Monday (September 30), was given not out even after edging the ball on day four of the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The India captain's knock would have come to an end in the third over itself but he survived thanks to his Bangladesh counterpart Najmul Hossain Shanto as well as their wicketkeeper Litton Das and the bowler Hasan Mahmud himself.

The incident took place on the first ball of the third over when Mahmud bowled one outside the off stump. Rohit Sharma had a poke at the ball but could not make good contact. As a result, the ball went straight to the wicketkeeper. While the ball was very close to the outside edge, the bowler and the wicketkeeper did not appeal for a caught behind.

However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was standing in the covers, was convinced that the right-handed batsman had edged the ball. As soon as Litton Das caught the ball, Mehidy walked towards his teammates and was heard telling them that Rohit had edged the ball.

Shanto looked a bit confused and consulted the wicketkeeper and the bowler. However, both Das and Mahmud were not convinced and Shanto decided against opting for the DRS. Well, it did not take the Bangladesh players long to regret the mistake as replays showed that Rohit had indeed edged the ball. UltraEdge showed a spike when the ball was next to the toe-end of the bat.

Mehidy Hasan sends back Rohit Sharma:

While Rohit Sharma survived in the third over, he did not last long. Mehidy ended the India star's stay at the crease in the fourth over by castling him. Before getting dismissed, Rohit gave India a flying start. He and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing as India raced away to 51 runs after just three overs.

Rohit departed after 23 runs off 11 balls. His knock was studded with three sixes and a four. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh's first innings came to an end on 233 runs. After only 35 overs were bowled on day one, no action took place on the second and third days due to rain and wet outfield. India are currently leading the two-match series after winning the first Test by 280 runs.
