Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has become the first bowler in Test cricket history to concede 300 sixes. He achieved this unwanted record during the ongoing first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between Australia and India at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Nathan Lyon has been struggling with the ball and being brutally hammered by the Indian batters in the ongoing Perth Test, marking a rare and embarrassing record in the longest format of the game.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has also smashed his 30th six against Nathan Lyon in Test cricket. Virat Kohli is on fire with the bat in the ongoing Perth Test against Australia, having already announced his arrival to beast mode with a stunning century on Sunday, November 24. He smoked his 30th Test hundred to end his drought of centuries in style on Australian soil.

The dashing right-hander remained unbeaten at 100 off 143 balls, studded with eight fours and two sixes against Australia in the five-match Test series opener at the Optus Stadium in Perth. However, Kohli fell cheaply for just five runs off 12 balls to the ace Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood.

Speaking about Nathan Lyon, the Australian spinner returned wicketless in his five overs, conceding 23 runs in the first innings, but he chipped in with two wickets in the second innings, giving away 96 runs in 39 overs against India in the ongoing first BGT Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Meanwhile, Australia's famed bowling quartet of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood scripted history in the ongoing first Test against India at Optus Stadium in Perth. They dismantled India’s top order on Day 1, with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood each claiming two wickets, while Pat Cummins kept things tight with his economical spells.

Together, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood achieved a remarkable feat, becoming the first group of bowlers in Test history to take 500 wickets while playing together. Cummins leads the way with 130 wickets, followed by Starc (124), Hazlewood (124), and Lyon (122).

Individually, Lyon has 530 wickets to his name in 130 Test matches; Starc has 360 wickets from 90 games; Hazlewood has 275 wickets in 71 matches; and Cummins has 269 wickets in 63 games in Test cricket.
