MS Dhoni is going through the final stages of his professional career, and he is clearly far away from his best. He struggled badly during CSK's home game against Delhi Capitals on Saturday and hardly posed any threat to the opposition with the bat.

During his knock, commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu couldn't stop himself from taking a brutal dig at MS Dhoni by calling him a "Phuss Pataakha", which means a damp squib. It happened after Dhoni had missed out on a free hit, and it turned out to be a dot ball.

During the 14th over of CSK's innings, Mohit Sharma bowled a no-ball to Vijay Shankar, who could only dig it out for a single. The next ball was a free hit, and MS Dhoni was on strike. The home crowd cheered for their talismanic cricketer to smash the ball out of the ground.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was in the Hindi commentary, mentioned that there's no room for negativity, and it was a win-win situation since it was a free hit. Sidhu further added that Dhoni will go for a big hit since the required run rate has gone to 15 runs per over.

However, Mohit Sharma cleverly bowled a perfect bouncer to deny Dhoni any run as the ball turned out to be a dot. This prompted Sidhu to roast Dhoni on live commentary.

"Ye toh Phuss Pataakha nikla (this turned out to be damp squib)," Sidhu said on the commentary.

MS Dhoni's disappointing knock

Dhoni had a painful outing with the bat during CSK's home game against Delhi Capitals. He came in to bat in the 11th over of the match when Chennai Super Kings had just lost Ravindra Jadeja for 2 runs.

When Dhoni came to the crease, there was hope that he would take the game closer with a few lusty blows. However, he just couldn't find his rhythm while batting nor did his batting partner Vijay Shankar.

Both the batters remained unbeaten till the end, but CSK still fell short by 25 runs. Dhoni remained not out on 30 off 26 balls with a four and a six. On the other hand, Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten in 69 off 54 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

Both of them stayed till the end but were unable to dominate the bowlers during their partnership. The Capitals' bowlers operated smartly to deny Dhoni any scoring shots to get him going.

Struggles continue for MS Dhoni

It hasn't been an easy season for MS Dhoni, who has struggled to score freely like he did in the last few years. Ever since he has batted down the order, Dhoni might not have been at his best, but dominated the bowlers with his insane hitting ability

However, his struggles have raised questions about his future as an IPL player, as it is costing his team. At 43, he is not getting younger, and his finishing abilities are not up to the mark

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals registered a historic win over Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. It was the Capitals' third win in a row and their first in Chennai in 15 years. They last defeated CSK in Chennai way back in 2010.
