During the Big Bash League knockout match between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers, while bowling first in the match, Scorchers are well on top of the opposition in Perth. Strikers have already lost 4 wickets for 48 runs and are placed on the backfoot by Scorchers. It was Scorchers bowler Jason Behrendorff who started the proceedings for his team and removed D Arcy Short for 6 runs.

Jason Behrendorff took a brilliant diving catch of D’Arcy Short during his follow-through. On the second ball of the 2nd ball, Behrendorff bowled a length ball which was angling towards the leg stump. Short was trying to play it towards the leg side but ended up getting a leading edge. The ball landed towards Behrendorff and he took a brilliant diving catch to remove Short.

The trouble for Adelaide Strikers didn’t end up here and lost skipper Matthew Short for 13 runs off 13 balls. Thomas Kelly as well was not able to do much damage and he had to lose his wicked for 6 runs off 16 balls. While Jake Weatherald tried to play some shots from the other end and scored a half-century. Weatherald departed for 56 runs from 32 balls and hit a total of 8 fours and 2 sixes in his innings.

Other than Jake Weatherald, Harry Nielsen and James Bazley walked back to the dressing room for 1 and 4 runs respectively. Adelaide Strikers have currently lost 6 wickets for 91 runs and will be aiming to get to a decent first-innings score.

Perth Scorchers in the present situation have a strong hold on the match and they will want to maintain the same and mark a place in the next stage of the tournament.

Perth Scorchers finished 3rd on the BBL 2023-24 points table whereas Adelaide Strikers ended up on the 4th spot. Scorchers were able to win 6 matches out of 10 whereas they ended up losing 3 matches. 1 match ended up with no result due to rain. Sydney Sixers have already made a place in the final of the Big Bash League which is set to be played on January 24 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. The winner of the knockout match between Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers will play Qualifier 2 on January 22 at the Carrara Oval in Queensland.

The Big Bash League is the second most popular T20 league in the world after the Indian Premier League. Plenty of big names from all over the world come out and play in the BBL and showcase their talent.
