Opener Phil Salt was batting extremely well before getting run out to a fine effort from Shreyas Iyer in the field during the first ODI between India and England at Nagpur. While it was a fine effort from Iyer, the wicket arrived due to a horrible mix-up.
It took India the ninth over of the match to strike the first blow. Hardik Pandya bowled a length delivery outside off stump and Salt tried to slice the ball away through backward point. Iyer ran towards the ball to keep it inside the boundary.
The batters ran two runs comfortably but Salt was looking for a third run as well. However, Duckett didn't commit to it at all leaving Salt stranded midway through the pitch. After pulling the ball back in, Shreyas Iyer threw the ball to Rahul to dislodge the bails comfortably.

The wicket was a much needed one for India as they were desperately looking for a breakthrough after fiery start from England openers. Both Phil Salt and Ben Duckett went beserk after a cautious start.
The first 4.4 overs yielded just 18 runs as Mohammed Shami bowled excellent lines and lengths to tie down the batters. However, the last two balls of Shami's over went for two boundaries.
The next over went for a massive 26 runs as Phil Salt smashed his former IPL teammate Harshit Rana all around the park. Salt struck 3 sixes and 2 fours in the over to turn the momentum towards England.

Both the batters were going extremely well and it seemed like theey will take their team to a big score. But the brainfade moment of Phil Salt and some fielding brilliance from Shreyas Iyer helped India get back into the game.
