A light-hearted moment took place during the first Test of the ongoing three-match series between Australia and the West Indies at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Friday, June 27 (local time). Play was briefly interrupted by a pigeon on the field before Australia wrapped up an emphatic victory.
Australia rattled through the West Indies' batting lineup in the second innings, bowling out the hosts for just 141 in 33.4 overs to secure a 159-run win late on day three of the first Test. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia in the final innings, taking 5 wickets for 43 runs in his 12 overs.

Travis Head, Beau Webster, and Alex Carey rescued Australia’s second innings with vital half-centuries. The visitors recovered from a challenging 65 for 4 late on day two to post a total of 310 by tea on day three.
West Indies’ standout performer with the ball was Shamar Joseph, who took 5 for 87 in the innings, finishing with impressive match figures of 9 for 133.
Former skipper Kraigg Brathwaite was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the opening over. Josh Hazlewood then tore through the middle order, removing John Campbell and debutant Brandon King in successive deliveries before claiming the wickets of captain Roston Chase and Keacy Carty.
Pat Cummins removed Shai Hope, West Indies’ top scorer from the first innings. Substitute fielder Marnus Labuschagne contributed with a direct hit to run out Alzarri Joseph. Hazlewood later returned to take the wicket of Jomel Warrican.

During the 34th over of the West Indies’ second innings, play was unexpectedly halted by a pigeon on the field. Players and umpires tried to gently move the bird away before the game resumed. The incident added to an already chaotic final session, which included extended play under lights.
Notably, Shamar Joseph was dismissed on the very next delivery after the pigeon interruption. Veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon removed Joseph, who had scored a quickfire 42 off just 22 balls, including four boundaries and as many sixes.
Australia sealed a dominant win after Lyon dismissed Jayden Seales for a golden duck. It was the end of the Test match between the two teams.

There Was Enough In The wicket - Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood credited Australia’s success to disciplined bowling on a pitch that had enough in it to trouble the batters. Hazlewood also mentioned that he is enjoying Test cricket at the moment.
"There was enough in the wicket, up-and-down from a length. It's just about hitting that area time and time again and being patient. I'm just enjoying cricket, Tests at the moment. Good team, atmosphere," said Hazlewood.
"I think once we saw West Indies take the second new ball today, we thought things could happen, but not that fast. There are a few cracks on a length from one end, some went low and we got a few bowled and lbws," he added.
