Rahul Tripathi’s whirlwind knock of 29-ball 53 eventually came to an end after he mistimed an attempted hoike against T Natarajan, only to see Wriddhiman Saha complete a juggling catch.
The catch brought an end to what was a brilliant inning by Tripathi.
The right-hander, who had come out to bat after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket, looked in his groove right from the outset.
Tripathi announced himself with a disdainful six off Mohammad Nabi over long-off in the 8th over. He then proceeded to swivel pull Vijay Shankar for a boundary before he smoked Nabi and Rashid for a couple more fours to race to 34 off just 21 balls.
The stylish right-hander followed it up with a couple of cheeky dabs past third-man for two more fours and in the process, he brought up his half-century in just 28 deliveries.
Tripathi’s wicket had caused a mini-collapse as Kolkata Knight Riders have lost the likes of Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, and Eoin Morgan within a space of the next two overs.
