Rajat Patidar's fun exchange with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The defending champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have faced their first defeat in the IPL since the knockout games in IPL 2025. Rajat Patidar, the captain of the losing side, had played a stunning knock with the bat, which set the platform for a big total for RCB.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the sole reason that the massive total looked like a toddler's target to the Rajasthan Royals. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's early dismissal following the two colossal hits to Josh Hazlewood, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued the onslaught.

The young batter thrashed Josh Hazlewood for 18 runs off the last four balls of his spell in the powerplay and set the tone for his 26-ball 78 run inning, which helped the Royals post a powerplay score of 97 runs in just 6 overs, that too at the loss of one wicket.

After the game, Rajat Patidar was seen playfully strangling the youngster as he came in and congratulated them. He seemed like he would have given him a handful if he could, as it was due to the youngster that the Royal Challengers lost the game in a humiliating fashion.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's spectacular innings lit the show in Guwahati

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dominated the innings single-handedly as he opened the innings and took on the RCB bowlers, which comprised the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

He played a fast-tracked innings as he scored 78 runs at a strike rate of 300. He went on to hit 70 runs off just 14 balls with four boundaries and four over-boundaries. The batter scored 74 runs off boundaries while only four singles were taken in the inning.

He lit the show in the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, where the 15-year-old opener almost took charge of their innings, before Dhruv Jurel finally finished the game for the Royals, as he guided them with a well-made, unbeaten 81-run innings.

Sooryavanshi tops the Orange Cap leaderboard

Vaibhav has opened in four matches for the Royals, winning all matches until now. They are undefeated with four wins early in the season. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also scored two half-centuries in this edition of the competition.

Sooryavanshi has managed to score 200 runs after 4 appearances and averages 50, as he has been dismissed on all occasions. However, he bats with a strike rate of over 270 and has hit a total of 36 boundaries in just 4 games.

Rajasthan Royals currently lead the Orange Cap list with Sooryavanshi at the top, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhurv Jurel. Ravi Bishnoi leads the Purple Cap leaderboard with 9 wickets.
