RCB captain Rajat Patidar was seen engaging in a fun moment with Rajasthan Royals youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the match ended in favour of the Royals, following a spectacular show with the bat by the 15-year-old.
The Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on the Rajasthan Royals was one of the most highly anticipated contests of this year's IPL, as all were excited to see the two undefeated teams clash. Josh Hazlewood also returned just in time for the Royal Challengers.
The excitement for the contest heightened further after a promising encounter was likely to be witnessed between the likes of Josh Hazlewood and Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Rajat Patidar's fun exchange with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
The defending champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have faced their first defeat in the IPL since the knockout games in IPL 2025. Rajat Patidar, the captain of the losing side, had played a stunning knock with the bat, which set the platform for a big total for RCB.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the sole reason that the massive total looked like a toddler's target to the Rajasthan Royals. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's early dismissal following the two colossal hits to Josh Hazlewood, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued the onslaught.
The young batter thrashed Josh Hazlewood for 18 runs off the last four balls of his spell in the powerplay and set the tone for his 26-ball 78 run inning, which helped the Royals post a powerplay score of 97 runs in just 6 overs, that too at the loss of one wicket.
After the game, Rajat Patidar was seen playfully strangling the youngster as he came in and congratulated them. He seemed like he would have given him a handful if he could, as it was due to the youngster that the Royal Challengers lost the game in a humiliating fashion.
