Royal Challengers Bengaluru lose 4th consecutive toss

RCB have had an interesting campaign in the Indian Premier League 2025. On one hand, they have absolutely dominated in the matches away from home and registered five consecutive wins.

On the other hand, they have played three matches at home and lost all of them. Each of their three defeats at home has followed a similar pattern.

They lost the toss against Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings, were invited to bat on difficult tracks, lost early wickets and made below-par scores, and then struggled to defend as dew made batting easier in the second innings.

Rajat Patidar had earlier urged his team to play according to the situation, as the toss was not in their control. However, he did his best to make sure that the coin fell in his favor, but it didn't happen.

After he was handed the coin at the RCB vs RR toss, Rajat took a moment to pray to god. Looking at this, Riyan Parag started laughing and called for heads as the coin was flipped, and the RR skipper won the toss.

Speaking after losing the toss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar said that they also wanted to bowl first as the surface on offer is a tricky one. He said:

"Ah, we would've bowled first as well. This surface has been tricky. I think the wicket looks good and we will adapt as quick as possible because we have played 3 games here."

The wicket has been two-paced this year - Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar added that they have to be good in terms of shot selections and labeled the pitches in Bengaluru as two-paced. He stated:

"I think we have to be good in terms of shot selections. The wicket has been two-paced this year. It has not been flat track as it was before. We want to adapt as quick as possible. We are going with the same team."

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Patidar had said a similar kind of thing and urged his team to adapt quickly and get their shot selections right. He stated:

"Absolutely, you are right, the shot selection matters. Because this time the wickets are two-paced wickets and the bounce is varying, so I think the bowlers are getting a lot of help, the way their ball is dipping, the way they are getting the bounce, so I think the more we focus on hitting [behind] square of the wicket, the better it will be."
