Eshan Malinga, on Friday (May 23), came up with a brilliant effort to run out Rajat Patidar at a crucial time during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow.

Chasing 232 runs, RCB were on 167/3 at the end of the 15th over. Patidar and Jitesh Sharma were fighting it out for RCB, and both of them were looking in good touch. Jitesh was unbeaten on 22 while Patidar was batting on 17.

SRH desperately needed a breakthrough, and Eshan Malinga rose to the occasion. On the fourth ball of the over, he completed a stunning run-out to send back Patidar. He first bowled a fine yorker around the off stump that Patidar managed to squeeze out next to the pitch.

Both the batsmen then decided to steal a quick single, but it did not take them long to regret the call. Eshan Malinga quickly ran to his left and collected the ball before hitting the bull's eye at the non-striker's end. Patidar was caught well short and had to walk back.

At the time of writing this report, RCB were on 174/5 at the end of the 16th over. Jitesh Sharma and Krunal Pandya were in the middle for the Bengaluru-based outfit.

Earlier in the game, SRH posted a daunting total of 231/6 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave SRH a flying start by adding 54 runs for the first wicket. While neither of them could convert their start into a big score, Ishan Kishan stayed till the end to take his team to a huge total.

The southpaw scored an unbeaten 95 off just 48 balls with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes. Apart from Kishan, Abhishek (34) was the only SRH batter to cross the 30-run mark. For RCB, Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 for 14 off 2 overs.
