Former Indian head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri openly fat-shamed a spectator on Day 3 of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident took place during the seventh over of Team India’s second innings against New Zealand.

As Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were tackling New Zealand’s bowling attack preciously on the field, Ravi Shastri and his colleagues at the commentary box took the opportunity to make fun of a spectator who was enjoying his ice cream while watching the game in Bengaluru.

A young lad wearing a red t-shirt was enjoying the match with his friends, and as soon as they found out that the cameraman was focusing on them, this particular fan tried to hide from the camera, possibly trying to hide he was having ice cream from his family.

Visibly, this fan looked heavyweight, and Ravi Shastri didn’t take the time to use his humor to troll him. Taking a direct dig at his fitness, the commentator was clearly hearing fat-shaming the fan. The former Indian head coach said that the weather in Bengaluru is too hot as the match is going on.

Later, Shastri called that fan “a big unit” and “a big bloke” while making fun of him for hiding himself from the camera. At that time, another commentator jumped in by chirping that he might have been hiding from his family as he was having the ice cream despite being overweight.

Ravi Shastri said on-air on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand: “Oh, this is it; it's hot. You need that ice cream, but someone is hiding behind. He's a big unit. Big unit. Oh, there he goes. There comes that cone. The ice cream has disappeared. It's only the cone left. He's a big guy. He's tucking into it. It's hot.”

India vs New Zealand Test story in Bengaluru

Speaking about the ongoing first Test, India managed to restrict New Zealand to 402 runs in their first innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Day 3. Then the hosts began their second inning in an attacking mode, but Yashasvi Jaiswal could make big, dismissed by Azaz Patel for 35 runs.

However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma smashed a quick fifty to give a flying start to Team India in the ongoing three-match Test series opener against New Zealand. After Rohit’s wicket, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan took charge of the team, and they are batting stunningly in Bengaluru.

Both Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan have scored over 60 runs, and they are looking good to reach the three-figure mark in the ongoing Test match against the Kiwis in Bengaluru. India is still trailing by 128 runs, and they need big runs from their big guns to have any chance to win this game.
