Ravindra Jadeja cleaned bowled Glenn Phillips with an absolute beauty on Day 1 of the ongoing third and final Test between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It was the third wicket of the day for the left-arm spinner of Team India. On the last of the 53rd over, Ravindra Jadeja, coming from wide of the crease, delivered a well-placed ball on a good length targeting the middle stump.
Glenn Phillips falls victim to Ravindra Jadeja's beautiful delivery
It pitched full on off stump, angling in and accelerating off the surface, and Glenn Phillips attempted to defend it from the front foot. But the Kiwi batter was expecting the ball to turn when it actually didn't.
The ball went through the narrow gap between bat and pad, hitting his middle stump. Phillips may not have made a significant error, but the pitch certainly helped Jadeja, as the ball's speed caught him off guard. Phillips departed after scoring 17 runs off 28 balls, including one boundary against India.

Ravindra Jadeja took all three wickets in the second session on Day 1 of the ongoing third Test against India. The left-arm spinner first removed the dangerous Will Young. Jadeja bowled with a nice drift into the middle, then got the ball to turn and bounce away sharply.
Will Young and Tom Blundell remove by Ravindra Jadeja in the same over
Young came forward to defend, but the ball caught the edge of his bat and flew to Rohit Sharma at slip, who took the catch with ease. Young tried to cover for the spin, but the late turn got the better of him, as his solid knock ended at 71 runs off 138 balls, studded with four fours and two sixes.
And then it was the turn of Tom Blundell, who was stunned by an absolute gem of a delivery by Ravindra Jadeja in the same over at the Wankhede Stadium. The ball drifted in toward the leg stump before turning sharply to hit off-stump, completely outfoxing Blundell on his back-foot defense.
With Jadeja’s low, skidding trajectory, there was little chance for Blundell to react with the ball crashing into the off-stump, and the New Zealander departed for a duck after facing just three balls in the ongoing final Test against India. A small cloud of dust kicks up as the ball lands, which shows how much the pitch is helping the spinner at the Wankhede Stadium.
Daryl Mitchell becoming big threat for Team India at Wankhede Stadium
Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell (64) is still looking dangerous for the Indian cricket team, and even they took DRS for the New Zealand star off Washington Sundar in the 60th over, but the luck is on the latter’s side. Actually, the ball pitched in line near the leg stump, with Mitchell attempting a reverse sweep but missing.
The impact was "umpire’s call" and showed the ball missing leg-stump, as it didn’t straighten enough. However, the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and captain Rohit Sharma discussed and decided to review, despite Sundar himself looking not interested in the call, and they lost the review.
