Superstar India National Cricket Team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja nearly suffered a Rishabh Pant-like freak foot injury during the fifth and final Test match against the England National Cricket Team.
The series finale of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 between India and England is being hosted by the Kennington Oval in London.
Ravindra Jadeja Almost Breaks Foot in Oval Test
The star India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant suffered a foot fracture during the fourth Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester.
He tried to play a premeditated reverse sweep off Chris Woakes and under-edged the ball onto his boot, suffering a nasty blow to his foot. He was instantly carried off the field in a buggy, and the scans further revealed that Pant has fractured his foot.
Ravindra Jadeja suffered a similar kind of blow during the fifth Test against England and was down on the ground for some treatment, leaving the Indian team management concerned.
On the sixth ball of the 67th over, Josh Tongue bowled a deadly toe-crushing yorker that hit Ravindra Jadeja on the front boot. Tongue was convinced, he took a wicket as he didn't even look back at the umpire during his appeal as Kumar Dharmasena raised the finger.
Ravindra Jadeja decided to use a DRS after a small chat with Dhruv Jurel, and the replays showed that the impact was outside off and the all-rounder survived.
Jadeja was also seen receiving treatment from physio in the middle as he got a strapping on his foot and took a painkiller before being ready to bat again. Thankfully, this incident was nothing like Rishabh Pant's injury, and the all-rounder looked comfortable in the middle.

Doesn't seem as if he's in too much distress - Mel Jones on Ravindra Jadeja
Speaking on Sky Sports, Mel Jones, who was on-air, said that the all-rounder didn't look in distress after the blow. Jones said:
"Some attention there, maybe to the big toe of the right foot some slight worries one for batting, yes. Jadeja also a key bowler in the Indian bowling ranks just having a look at that he doesn't seem as if he's in too much distress there until, of course, the physio yanks it and says how does that feel?"
Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik said that it looked plumb at first sight, but the technology saved the all-rounder. He said:
"On first impact it looked absolutely plumb to be honest. Beauty of technology clearly I would say the off some that's a nasty blow that could hurt in all fairness. Jadeja actually thought he was out he just almost started walking and then after thought to ask for the review because through Jurel said why don't we go for it and that's when he asked for it but he almost thought he was plumb out there."
Mel Jones further lauded the young keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel for persuading Jadeja to go for a review. Jones stated:
"Well to be fair the laws of the game has probably saved him haven't they he didn't have hitting outside the line it probably was going on to plumb into the stumps that amazing swing back in yeah he head down he sort of looked up and it was almost like a nod of that's gone isn't it or should I go okay so.
"Kudos to Jurel because that is such an important role these days in the game of cricket isn't it the non-striker needs to have focus on every delivery not just the ones that they're facing themselves for moments like that."
