Sydney Sixers pacer Tom Curran was involved in a bizarre incident during match 5 of the Big Bash League against Hobart Hurricanes. The match took place at the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground, Launceston, where the Sixers won the game by 6 wickets.
Tom Curran was frightened by the flames near the boundary rope and his reaction caught the attention of many. It was during the 13th over of the innings when Corey Andreson smashed a big six and the England bowler was looking at it.
As he went to collect the ball above the boundary ropes, a flame of fire emerged out of nowhere. Tom Curran was left amazed by it as he jumped in scared and then gathered the ball. His reaction left many in splits even great Ricky Ponting, who was doing commentary.
Ricky Ponting couldn’t control his laughter. He also made fun of Tom Curran with hilarious lines while commentating. He stated “Have a look at Tom Curran, boys watch this. Have a look at this, watch him jump,”

Tom Curran played a great role in Sydney Sixers’ win over Hobart Hurricanes. The fast bowled pretty well and also hit the winning runs for his team. His side was impressive with both bat and ball and won the game by 6 wickets.
BBL 2023-24: Sydney Sixers register their second win of the tournament; Tom Curran shines
With the 6-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers registered their second straight win of the tournament. Asked to bowl first, they restricted the opposition to a total of just 135 runs. Tom Curran returned with the figures of 3/19 whereas Ben Dwarshuis and Jack Edwards also chipped in and picked two wickets each.
Although Sydney Sixers lost Josh Phillippe (16) and James Vince (5) early, Daniel Hughes slammed an unbeaten half-century and took his team past the finishing line. He slammed 60 runs off 50 balls and helped his team win the second game of the tournament.
