Team India star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant surprised the cricketing world as he rolled his arm during the first match of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2024 season.

Rishabh Pant sent a message to Team India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir that he can contribute with the ball if needed.

Under Gautam Gambhir, several Indian batters have taken on bowling duties during the recent tour to Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, and Shubman Gill bowled during the white-ball tour.

Surya and Rinku bowled the final two overs in the last T20 match and helped the team secure the victory.

The inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League started with the match between the Purani Dilli 6 and the South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, August 17.

The South Delhi Superstarz secured a victory by three wickets in a high-scoring encounter with five balls to spare.

The South Delhi Superstarz needed only one run to win in the recent match. Rishabh Pant came to bowl the last over of the match.

The South Delhi Superstarz secured victory with the very first ball. It is worth mentioning that Pant, who is known for his glovework, had never bowled in international cricket.

Rishabh Pant's bowling was a rare sight that captured widespread attention from fans and commentators. Despite the team's loss, the video of Pant’s bowling has gone viral across social media platforms on the internet.

The Delhi Capitals captain came in at No. 3. Pant struggled with the pace and timing. He scored only 24 runs from 27 balls. However, he quickly turned things around with a six and a boundary. Rishabh Pant was dismissed after scoring 35 runs from 32 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.

Priyansh Arya Named 'Player Of The Match' For His Batting Performance

The Purani Dilli-6 team scored 197 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, South Delhi Superstarz opener Priyansh Arya scored 57 runs off 30 balls, including three fours and four sixes.

Priyansh added an 87-run partnership with Sarthak Ray, who scored 41 off 26 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Shivam Sharma helped Purani Dilli’s comeback by dismissing both South Delhi Superstarz openers. Captain Badoni scored 57 runs off 27 balls.

The Superstarz collapsed to 183-7 from 152-1 during the match. Vision Panchal, batting at number eight, guided his team to victory in the final over of the match.

"Feeling good. First match if I perform well it will be great and that's what I thought to play well and contribute to the win of the team. The mindset was to take the game deep. Play the shots in front. Personal milestone is get the Player of the series and help the team win," Priyansh Arya said.
