Rishabh Pant has been amazing both as a batter and wicketkeeper in the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

After smashing his 6th Test ton on Day 3, Pant continued to shine with his skills against Bangladesh on Day 4 of the Chennai Test.

It is well evident that Pant is now a much more improved wicketkeeper for the Indian cricket team across the formats, and he yet again won hearts and applause for his stunning efforts behind the stumps in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh on Day 4 in Chennai.

On the last ball of the 45th over, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a short ball down the leg side, and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan missed the chance to score. Pant reacted swiftly, leaping to his right and stopping the ball with his right hand, securing runs for India.

Impressed by the star wicketkeeper's quick reflexes and sharp stop, Team India captain Rohit Sharma applauded Pant’s wonderful efforts, recognizing the key role he played in saving a potential boundary from Shakib while clapping for the latter.

However, after a couple of few overs, Pant missed the chance to dismiss the ace Bangladesh all-rounder. Actually, Shakib got a lifeline in the 47th over before eventually falling into Ravichandran Ashwin’s trap in the match. Well, Ravindra Jadeja delivered a full ball to Shakib, who charged down the pitch but missed, as the ball didn’t turn.

Pant attempted to collect the ball but fumbled, with it deflecting off his glove and onto his chest, allowing Shakib to escape a stumping. Actually, the extra bounce caught Pant off guard, preventing him from securing the ball cleanly, and Shakib got the lifeline.

However, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made sure of Shakib’s exit in the 52nd over. Ashwin made an immediate impact in his first over of Day 4 by dismissing his counterpart, who was caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the backward short leg.

Bowled at 87.6 kph, the delivery was an in-drifter with minimal spin. Shakib attempted to block the ball but only managed to edge it onto his pad, leading to a low catch by Jaiswal. And Ashwin successfully broke the 48-run partnership, as Shakib departed for 25 runs off 56 balls.

Earlier in the match, Pant scored an incredible century on his comeback to Test cricket and helped Team India to hand a 515-run target to Bangladesh to win the opening game of the two-match Test series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

However, the tourists were bowled out for just 234 runs, as Team India recorded a comprehensive 280-run win over their Asian rivals in the Chennai Test to take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing two-match Test series at home. The second and final Test will be played in Lucknow from September 27.
