Star Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant survived dismissal during the third day of the third and final Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai. Pant was adjudged not out by the on-field umpire, but the New Zealand skipper Tom Latham decided not to review the decision in the final innings.
New Zealand set a 147-run target for the Rohit Sharma-led side at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, October 3. The hosts started in a disappointing manner in the final innings of the match. They lost their five specialist batters for just 29 runs on the board on a challenging surface in Mumbai.
Rishabh Pant came in to bat at No. 5 for India following Virat Kohli's dismissal and hit a six on his third delivery. The left-handed batter consistently applied pressure on the New Zealand bowlers throughout his innings. Pant finished the morning session on Day 3 with an unbeaten score of 53 runs off 50 balls.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 12th over in India's second innings. Ajaz Patel appealed for an LBW against Rishabh Pant. Pant misjudged his timing while attempting a pull shot and was hit on his body. However, the umpire ruled in favor of the batter.
Tom Latham decided not to opt for the DRS review. However, replays showed that the ball would have hit the leg stump, and a DRS review would have resulted in the umpire overturning his decision.
