India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant received a great welcome from the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of the start of the Delhi Premier League. The Southpaw was rewarded for winning the T20 World Cup 2024.
Pant, who was part of the Indian Team for the T20 World Cup 2024, is playing the first game of the Delhi Premier League. The keeper-batter is part of the Purani Delhi 6 team and will be playing just one game in the event, which is underway against South Delhi Superstarz at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Pant playing the first game of the tournament will massive boost to the Delhi Premier League, whose inaugural edition started today. His presence no doubt will set the tone and will be a massive encouraging factor for the youngsters.
Ahead of the start of the game between the Purani Delhi 6 team and South Delhi Superstarz, Pant received a huge honor. The keeper-batter was given the red carpet welcome and then was felicitated by DDCA president Arun Jaitley and BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla.

Rishabh Pant played a vital role for India National Cricket Team in the T20 World Cup 2024. The keeper-batter made his return for the team in the tournament. He was out of action for a while due to the horrifying accident that he suffered in December 2023 after the Bangladesh series.
Pant had a decent campaign with the bat as he stepped up for his team in the crunch situations and bailed them out of trouble. His best came in the game against Pakistan, where he was the top run scorer for his team with a 42-run knock and helped them post a fighting total.

Rishabh Pant, who has made his return for India in the T20Is and ODIs, is also likely to make a comeback to the Test team during a two-match Test series against Bangladesh next month. The series between the teams will begin on 19th September.
