Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a heated conversation with Bangladesh wicketkeeper Litton Das during the first Test match.
The exchange occurred after Rishabh Pant attempted a quick single during the first session on Day 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Rishabh Pant is playing his first Test match after more than a year’s absence due to injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022.
Notably, he made his comeback in professional cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He then represented India in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Rishabh Pant Picked Over Dhruv Jurel As Wicketkeeper-Batter In XI
The left-handed batter made his return to first-class cricket during the Duleep Trophy 2024. Rishabh scored a half-century in his comeback game in red-ball cricket. The 26-year-old was preferred over Dhruv Jurel, who impressed during his maiden series, as the wicketkeeper-batter in the XI.
India found themselves in a difficult position after losing their top three batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli managed to score only 6 runs each, and Shubman Gill was out for a duck. Hasan Mahmud took advantage of the pitch conditions to claim all three wickets that fell in the first session.
Watch: Rishabh Pant, Litton Das Involved In A Heated Exchange
The heated exchange between Rishabh Pant and Litton Das occurred on the third ball of the 15th over. Litton Das was unhappy after the Indian batters ran a single following a deflection off Pant's pads. Das expressed his displeasure to Pant, as such deflections usually don't result in runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant rescued the team with a half-century partnership for the fourth wicket. India was at 88/3 before the lunch break on Day 1, with Jaiswal (37) and Pant (33) at the crease. Jaiswal looked solid but Pant survived on 27 runs after being dropped off Taskin Ahmed.
Who Is Hasan Mahmud?
Hasan Mahmud made his Test debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year, taking 6 wickets in his first match. He gained prominence during the two-match Test series win against Pakistan, where he took 8 wickets. Hasan became a key player in Bangladesh's young fast bowling attack in red-ball cricket.
Bangladesh continued their strong form from their recent 2-0 Test series sweep against Pakistan. The visiting team aims to break the partnership quickly to restrict India to a below-par total in the first innings. They will have to bat last in the match against a quality Indian spin bowling attack.
